Hello, hello!

Updated: Aug 1

I was struggling with a creative rut (yes, I have those now), PMS-ing and being very existential, in general.

What's a life crisis at 31 called? It's not quarter-life, it's not mid-life, then what is it? My problem has no name. It was called ‘hysteria’ back in the day. But is it really so terrible when you start wailing because you watched Michael Keaton call his on-screen daughter (Mila Kunis) his soulmate?

That said, I had fun with my soulmate (my sister) for a month:

  • I NEED THIS. Dear allergies, give me some respite!

  • Landlines were a blessing then, now, and always. All high-school crushes had to go through greeting Mommy and Daddy. They also lurked near the phone until all the gossip was over. Since we had only one telephone company operated by the government, it meant that we all received the phone bills at the same time and got scolded together for exceeding the free limit. Ah, the days of our lives! Miss you, landlines!

  • This is easily my favourite quote of the last 13 years, if not more. I discovered it first on Instagram– back when it wasn’t Meta-owned and verses in typewriter-style fonts were all the rage. Every time I read it, I feel like I can stop worrying and allow myself to rest:

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given to you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer –Rainer Maria Rilke

What are some of your favourite quotes of all time?
